Camp Counselors - Day Camp shift
Mon - Fri 8:30 am-4 pm
Overnight week shifts
Mon - Fri 8:30-4:30 (Daily)
Sun - Thurs 4 pm - 9 am (nightly)
*Boarding is available to those willing to work overnight shifts.
Sun 4 pm - Wed 9 am or Wed 8 am - Fri 4 pm (These shifts are offered for individuals to work [several days & nights consecutively] during Overnight Camp Weeks) *College Student Friendly hours.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist in leading individuals within a small group in daily aspects in camp life, programs, and activities.
• Enthusiastically participate in camp activities and encourage camper participation in camp activities.
• Follow the direction of the supervisor and leadership staff and work effectively as a team member with other staff.
• Properly, adequately, and continuously monitor campers under your supervision, and take responsibility for assisting with their comfort and ensuring their safety. Follow all safety, emergency, and health regulations.
• Know each camper and the support they need by reviewing their camp application and caregiver’s instructions. This includes eating, toileting schedule, bathing, etc.
• Care or assist in care for the needs of the camper including toileting, changing, bathing, and feeding.
• Sleep in cabins with campers and assist in any overnight needs of the campers. (Night Counselors Only)
• Follow all camp policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Ability to assist or lead a group of campers as a unit.
Maturity and adaptability in all situations.
Ability to work under the supervision of the acting Manager in a cooperative efficient manner.
Ability to handle camper behaviors.
The following experience is helpful: Working with people who have special needs/developmental disabilities, camping, and recreation.
Trained or willing to train in CPR/ First Aid Certification and Food Handler's License.
Floats - Assist with campers in various positions but not assigned to a specific cabin or campers.
Group Leads - The individuals applying for this position should be able to work closely with the Program Director, lead staff, and campers throughout their day. Demonstrating teamwork and making campers' safety and experience the #1 priority.
Art - Individuals applying for this position will be responsible for creating art sessions adaptable for all of our Campers. The campers enjoy painting, tie-dyeing, and other crafting.
Music - Individuals applying for this position will be responsible for creating a music session adaptable to all our Campers. This can include leading Karaoke, singing camp songs, and helping to incorporate instruments and tools to assist in campers' overall experience.
Kitchen - Individuals applying for this position could be considered for Day camp weeks and/or Overnight camp weeks. We are in need of cooks (Must have Food Manager Certificate) We are also in need of individuals to help with prepping, cooking, and serving the food for our Campers. They will assist with keeping our kitchen up to code. (Must have or be willing to get Food Handlers)
Lifeguards - This individual will have or get a valid certification for keeping Campers safe in any waterfront area. This includes the pool, boat, and while Campers are fishing.
Responsibilities include:
• Guarding the pool, lakefront area, or on the boat.
• Assist in the mobility of campers into the pool, boat, or dock area. Including the ability to lift individuals into the chairlift or assist downstairs into the pool. Assist with programs and activities as assigned.
• Enthusiastically participate in camp activities and encourage camper participation in camp activities.
• Follow the direction of the supervisor and leadership staff and work effectively as a team member with other staff.
• Properly, adequately, and continuously monitor campers under your supervision, and take responsibility for assisting with their comfort and ensuring their safety. Follow all safety, emergency, and health regulations.
• Know each camper and the support they need in the water areas of the camp by reviewing their camp application and caregiver’s instructions.
• Care or assist in care for the needs of the camper while in the activity area (sunscreen on, hydration, shade as needed)
• Follow all camp policies and procedures
Qualifications:
MUST have Lifeguard Certification
MUST have CPR/ First Aid Certification
Ability to assist with mobility of campers in pool/lakefront areas
Maturity and adaptability in all situations.
Ability to lead others and take charge in an emergency situation.
Ability to work under the supervision of the acting Manager in a cooperative efficient manner.
Ability to handle camper behaviors.

Boat Driver - This individual will drive the Boat, giving scheduled rides to Campers during Summer Camp weeks. Their priority will be evaluating the boat and keeping campers safe. The individual considered should be familiar with the water.
Train Driver - This individual will drive the train, giving scheduled rides to our Campers during the Summer Camp weeks. During any downtime, the individual will help prep for activities and other tasks as needed.
***Each position will be required to complete the training provided ***
Nurse – We are in need of (Day shifts) during Day Camp weeks and (Day shift / Night Shift) during overnight weeks. We are also accepting applications for PRN.
Nurse Responsibilities include:
- Carry out the duties of medication administration of all daily medications of the campers attending Camp New Hope
- Document each occurrence with a camper, either on a MAR, Incident Report, or in Daily Notes
- Adhere to the scheduled medication pass times of 8:00 am, 12:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, unless otherwise noted There will also be med pass times varied from the traditional schedule, per the camper’s medication administration record
- General first aid as needed by campers and staff • Assist counselors with any ADL assistance, as needed with the campers
- Assist counselors with application of any PRN non-medicated lotions, creams, or other types of solutions
- Contact 911 for any camper emergency.
- Notify management of any incident or emergency ASAP
- Follow directions of management and work effectively as a team member
- Follow safety and health regulations and all camp policies and procedures
- Continuously monitor campers under your supervision, and take responsibility for assisting with their comfort and ensuring their safety
- Know each camper and the support they need by reviewing their camp application, MAR, and caregiver’s instructions.
Qualifications
- Must hold an IL RN or LPN License
- Must hold a current CPR certificate
